J. Greg Rula, M.D.
Dr. Rula came to Arizona after graduating from the University of Mississippi Medical School.  He completed his Residency in General Surgery at The Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency, based at Good Samaritan Medical Center, and has been in the East Valley practicing General Surgery since 1990.  Dr. Rula enjoys a broad-based interest in General Surgery, including all types of breast surgery, thyroid, and parathyroid surgery, and hernia repairs.  He also has specific training and expertise in advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques for gastroesophageal reflux disease, adrenalectomy and splenectomy. 

Dr. Rula is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Member of the Phoenix Surgical Society.  He is presently Chief of the Medical Staff at Banner Desert Medical Center.

When Dr. Rula is not caring for surgical patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two small children.  He enjoys mountain biking and hiking, and is an ASU Sun Devil fan.

Members of the American College of Surgeons are referred to as "Fellows." The letters FACS (Fellow, American College of Surgeons) after a surgeon's name mean that the surgeon's education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have passed a rigorous evaluation, and have been found to be consistent with the high standards established and demanded by the American College of Surgeons.
